Stupid Letter IV: Epilogue?
Well the new Yellowbook came out recently, and seeing as how the last Yellowbook brought back fun memories of my business website showing up in someone else's ad, I decided to take a looksee to what my old buddy was doing these days.To my immense satisfaction, the number for his business is no longer listed in the Yellow Pages....nor is it in the Sioux Falls or Tea phone listings whatsoever.Come to think of it, about a month after my last Stupid Letter post, I got a voicemail on my cell (which doubles as my business phone) with some other guy threatening to sue me (is there a freaking sign on my back I'm not aware of here?!?) over failure to complete my work. Seeing as I had never heard of this guy I started putting two and two together pretty quick.....turns out my new business website still has my OLD business name on it....along with that cell number. So I called him and very nicely explained things, and he mentioned he was some sort of legal system employee and wanted to know if I knew about how to get ahold of my old buddy. I very nicely pointed him to the Secretary of the State website, which has his name and I think even his address listed (as the business address of course). He mentioned my old buddy was threatening to sue him for non-payment, which the job laying half completed in the back of his office. My my....the little guy certianly is sue-happy, isn't he?I'm not sure if this guy's lawsuit against my old buddy was successful or not, but I haven't heard from him since my letter came back, and his number is no longer anywhere to be found. Maybe he wised up and got a job better suited to his talents. Like the crazy janitor. Or professional burden on society. In either case, I certainly wish him well.....and I wonder if that business name in my county is still available......hmmm......
